The NividiSkin Laboratory on the Island of Ouessant
- Where is Ouessant Island?
Ouessant is a French island located at the very end of the Iroise Sea, 18.5 km off the western coast of Finistère. It is the last barrier before North America, with the Nividic lighthouse at its tip, the most westerly lighthouse on the French coast.
- What is special about the island of Ouessant?
It has a unique ecosystem, protected by 4 organizations: UNESCO, Natura 2000, the Armorique Regional Natural Park and the Iroise Marine Natural Park. Its seabed, between the Atlantic Ocean and the English Channel, is home to many species of algae, which have developed surprising activities to adapt to the particularly natural but agitated conditions. One of them, Ascophyllum nodosum , is a brown algae that greatly appreciates the Ouessant ecosystem. It is harvested in Porz Goret, at the southern tip of the Island, then extracted in Kernigou to obtain the active ingredient Eusaphylane®.
- Who are we ?
It all began over 20 years ago as part of a research mission focused on extracting active ingredients from algae in Ouessant. Guy Potier, founder of the NividiSkin Laboratory, sought to produce these small polysaccharides, initially developed for their healing properties. Under his leadership, a team in Ouessant continues to develop active ingredients derived from certain algae cultivated or harvested in Ouessant. Some of these active ingredients are also sold to the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food industries.
- Where does the name NividiSkin come from?
The name of the NividiSkin Laboratory is a reference to the Nividic lighthouse, the most westerly lighthouse on the French coast, at the tip of Pern, at 5°West.
- What is meant by cosmetic transition?
Transition describes the passage from one state to another. It is widely used these days to describe the situation of Mankind vis-à-vis the planet and certain perspectives that impose profound systemic changes: energy transition, ecological transition, environmental transition. We thought about what the transition could be in cosmetics, a new way of consuming and using dermo-cosmetic care in a more sober and effective way. This is what the Nividiskin Laboratory offers: in a single simple, active and complete gesture, every day, morning and evening, from head to toe, you help the skin of the whole family to:
• soothe in case of temporary or persistent irritation
• hydrate deeply
• regenerate and thus fight against the signs of time
No need for a whole host of different, complex, often expensive products containing only simple moisturizing agents (oils, butters, etc.). This is only possible thanks to the presence, in all its formulas, of a powerful and unique regenerating active ingredient, developed and perfected more than 20 years ago on the island of Ouessant: Eusaphylane®.
- What are our commitments?
Our commitments are threefold: - Cosmetics , in simplification, effectiveness (each formula contains a complete active ingredient) and sobriety (a single treatment is enough), in the choice of ingredients (natural, non-controversial), packaging (a single material, recyclable, without over-packaging)
- Environmental , to sustainably manage the algae resource and limit the environmental impact of our activities on the Island, to use as little recyclable packaging as possible and work to replace plastic;
- Societal , by creating and encouraging long-term and sustainable economic activity on the Island: all our points of sale on the Ouessant Island are merchants, all our parcels leave from La Poste d'Ouessant.
- What do the products contain?
Our BAUME TEMPETE® all contain our natural and powerful active ingredient, dosed at 0.5%, which helps the skin to regenerate while soothing and moisturizing it. It is combined with emollients (“fatty” products which help with the hydration, suppleness and softness of the epidermis), natural (shea butter, avocado oil, coconut oil, etc.). They do not contain any controversial ingredients (endocrine disruptors, controversial preservatives). The WASHING CARE also contains a purifying active ingredient, Ysaline®, extracted from an organic red algae, Asparagopsis armata , grown in Ouessant, and which has antiseptic properties. It contains neither sulfate nor soap and is particularly suitable for irritated and fragile skin and scalps.
- What is an asset?
An active ingredient is a compound that has a real, lasting effect on the skin. Active ingredients are often classified in a complex way, while they are either soothing (relieve irritation and itching) or regenerating (they help the skin regenerate and thus help it fight the signs of aging). Other products are called "active" when in fact they only provide an immediate effect of softness and suppleness (emollients) or they temporarily make spots and fine lines disappear (certain so-called anti-aging or anti-wrinkle products).
- What is the difference between an active ingredient and an emollient?
In a cosmetic formula, there are often many different ingredients, which is not a bad thing in itself: they all have a role to play in making the formula stable over time, easy and pleasant to apply, nourishing without being greasy, leaving the skin soft without shine... Some ingredients have more properties: - Emollients : These are "oily" products that help hydrate the epidermis and provide suppleness and softness after application. However, they are not strictly speaking active ingredients because they have no real and lasting activity on the skin. Examples of emollients, which are also used by the NividiSkin Laboratory: shea butter, coconut oil, avocado oil. They are essential but not sufficient.
- Active ingredients : they are either soothing (relieve irritation and itching) or regenerating (they help the skin regenerate and thus help it fight the signs of aging). This is the case of Eusaphylane® created by the NividiSkin Laboratory, which has both these activities: regenerating and soothing.
- How are products tested?
All tests carried out to ensure the effectiveness and good tolerance of our products comply with European cosmetic regulations. These prohibit the use of animals and require the clinical benefits of the products to be demonstrated under dermatological control.

- For whom?
Our treatments are suitable for the whole family, they are unisex, and can be used from the age of 3.
- For what type of use?
Our treatments can be used as daily care, to help the skin regenerate or relieve it (eczema, psoriasis, etc.) every day, but also more occasionally on weakened or irritated areas (burns, bites, sunburn).

Your order is prepared by our small logistics team based on the island of Ouessant, and will ship your package directly to you from La Poste du Bourg, via Colissimo.

- Who prepares the packages?
Your order is prepared by our small logistics team based on the island of Ouessant, and will ship your package directly to you from the town's post office via Colissimo.
- Where are the products shipped from?

- How much does delivery cost?
The prices indicated on the website do not include delivery charges, which are charged in addition to the price of the products purchased, depending on the weight of the order and the delivery address. For all orders over 50 euros including tax, delivery is free.
Delivery costs/or the absence of delivery costs will be indicated before the Buyer confirms the order.
- From what amount is delivery free?

- When will I receive my products?
Orders are shipped in France by "Colissimo with tracking", allowing you to track the package. You will normally be delivered within 48 hours, unless there is a delay by La Poste, to the delivery address indicated in the order. In case of absence, you will receive a delivery notice allowing you to collect the products ordered from the postal services, during the time indicated by them.
For certain countries not served by Colissimo, shipments may be made by other means, at our discretion.
- Can I have it delivered abroad?
This is possible, as the online sale of the products presented on the website is intended for all buyers residing in countries that fully authorize the entry of these products into their territory.
- How do I track my delivery?
Orders are shipped in France by “Colissimo with tracking”, allowing you to track the package.
- The delivered products are damaged
The risks associated with the delivery of the products are borne by the buyer from the moment the products leave our premises. In the event of damage to the products during transport, the buyer must submit a reasoned and written complaint to the carrier within three (3) days of receipt of the delivery.
- Can I return the products?
For any unopened/unsealed product, you have a withdrawal period of fourteen (14) clear days from receipt of the product(s) ordered.

Payments made by credit card are made through a secure payment system managed by Shopify: all information transmitted is encrypted by software and no third party can read it during transport over the network.
- When is the amount of the products debited from my account?
Regardless of the payment method, your bank account will only be debited when the available products are shipped and only for the amount of the products sent and the delivery costs, if applicable.
- Is my payment data stored?
In order to validate your order, we ask you to provide your bank details (cardholder's name, card number, and expiration date). The transmission of this information is secure. We do not store your bank details under any circumstances.
- In what cases can I be reimbursed?
In the event that the conditions for exercising your right of withdrawal are met, the reimbursement will be made in accordance with the conditions provided for in the General Conditions of Salehere .
